Granite Mountain Trail in Snoqualmie Pass is one of the most iconic trails in the I-90 corridor.

Meatball is the perfect baby 🫶

The decision to not have kids was actually made for me when I found out my FSH hormone level was extraordinarily low.

That led me to find out I had cysts on both ovaries.

As someone who was already on the fence about children, this news was not heartbreaking but freeing. Growing up around people who had complications from getting pregnant to childbirth, having children had always scared me.

The decision was made for me but I’m so happy with it.

Some things to consider when hiking on the trail with your dog 🥾🐶

🎒Bring an emergency kit specifically for your dog. @adventuremedicalkits has one specifically for dogs!

🐕Consider bringing a harness for your dog for easier caring if they get injured.
@ruffwear has an emergency harness and so does @mountaindogware

Things you should do before you hit the trail and why 🦴
🏋️‍♀️Practice carrying your dog. They might not be used to getting picked up and they definitely won’t like it if they’re injured.
Practice won’t make this perfect in an emergency situation, but it will make it more manageable.

🐕Practice using a muzzle. The first time you put a muzzle on your dog shouldn’t be when they’re upset.
Injury may provoke them to bite because they’re hurt.

Mitigate the risk of harm coming to you or others by using a muzzle.

You think your dog would never do something like that, but you never know how they will react to injury.

Cold Weather doesn’t need to keep you from the outdoors ❄️🥶

This is my cold weather car camping sleep system that keeps me toasty even in freezing weather!

I use a @luno.life air mattress that forms to the back of my vehicle to maximize space!

Add a blanket of your choosing to act as an insulating layer between yourself and your air mattress! (This step is extremely important!)

I swap my blankets for my @seatosummit 0 Degree Ascent Sleeping Bag! I find this keeps me warmer and eradicates chances of blankets falling off of me at night.

Top with a wool blanket! Wool blankets will keep you extremely warm so adding them as a top layer to trap body heat is key!

Hope this helps you get out and enjoy some snowy car camping this winter!

🌟Weekend Itinerary for Orcas Island 🌟

I spent Friday Night to Sunday Afternoon on Orcas Island and took the Ferry from Anacortes!

Friday:
We made the 5:40 ferry just in time! Highly recommend making a reservation as the ferry line can fill up quickly!

🤑Remember the charge per car + per person. The round trip ferry for three people and a car was around $87

I rented an Airbnb on Deer Harbour! But there are plenty of hotels and campsites depending on what you’re looking for!

Saturday:
Started at @brownbearbaking which is delicious! Grab a pastry or FIVE with a good cup of coffee to start your day.

Headed to Moran State Park! Did a short hike with Meatball to Silver Falls. It was a little rainy but still wonderful.
✨need a state park pass✨

Back to the Airbnb to freshen up! (Also did a short dip in the hot tub)

Next was @orcasislandwinery ! We split a bottle and enjoy some rays of sun 🍷

Drive out to Doe Bay for some dinner!
@doebaycafe is exquisite! Their short, seasonal menu is delicious. They’re always changing it up so go frequently!

Sunday:
We took the late morning ferry so we headed into Eastsound for some shopping.

We stopped in my two favorite stores @darvillsbookstore and @island_thyme !!

On the ferry back we spotted Orcas!

And that was this trip!

Also highly recommend spending time at Turtleback Mountain Preserve!
